$2,000 to fix a car that you’re buying for $2000 and once repaired will only be worth $2000.

Math is hard, guys.

The frame rails slightly bent is likely true. The radiator support and the aprons are wasted, the engine is likely leaning back, everything in the front of a Prius is expensive because they don’t share many parts with other Toyotas...

BUT! If you putit on a laser frame machine it would like show very little out of square...

The $2000 to fix is laughable.

PS. Thanks for Gillian. Still have the hits for that woman.

Hmmm... let’s see if we can find everything we need on car-part.com:

Hood - used, silver- $200

driver side fender - used, silver - $125

driver side headlight - $128

front bumper assembly - used, silver - $150

Front bumper reinforcement - $100

Radiator - $110

Radiator cooling fan assembly - $153

Radiator core support - $165

Hood Latch - $25

Add that all up... $1156 in used parts... not including tax or shipping. I imagine shipping will add roughly another $300 and add 6.5% sales tax and you have AT LEAST $1550 in parts costs alone... and you still have to take all the broken stuff off, straighten things out (which you may have to pay someone to do properly) and install all the new stuff. And there’s probably a few bits I’m missing that will add to the cost.

And then there is some added cost to get it inspected to get the rebuilt title.

Yeah... this will definitely cost more than $2000 to fix even if you buy a bunch of used parts.

The seller is on crack if he/she truly thinks that car is fixable for $2000 or less.

In its current unrepaired state, it’s worth $1000 max.

Seems like a pretty cheap way to get the perfect candidate for a sleeper LS swap....

That sucks bro. Poor hatch.

My buddy has a 15 Impreza hatchback, and he ran over a rubber matt left on the freeway, and it damaged both bumpers costing him 2.5k. Just the damn plastic bumpers!
